EXCLUSIVE EXCERPT:  Landon's POV
Picture Perfect (bk 2) Limelight Series

It was just another Saturday night in downtown Norfolk. After the week I’d had, I definitely needed to let off some steam and I found just the chick I was hoping to do it with. I’d spotted her right away, as I’m sure most of the men at Fahrenheit nightclub had that night. If you were male, had a pulse, and were of the heterosexual variety, this woman was on your radar.

I stood off to the side of the dance floor, nursing a beer, just watching her. Her long blond hair swung around her as she danced with her friend. There was no give on her leather pants or the white halter top that showcased part of her tight stomach. They should outlaw clinging leather pants on women that looked like her. It made for misfiring synapses in the male brain.

She was grinding to the beat of the music, shaking her ass back and forth, when her friend leaned in and said something to her and she stopped moving. Damn. I’d been enjoying that. Thanks, friend.

They finished talking and she stood there for a second, then slowly turned and locked eyes with me. I don’t know how she knew I’d been watching her, but I wasn’t embarrassed about it in the least. I grinned back at her and let my eyes roam freely over the expanse of her curves, mentally undressing her with my eyes. She quickly looked away.

She surprised me by dancing even more seductively than she had before, running her hands up and down the side of her body and almost bending in half so that her considerable back assets were on full display. It might have been wishful thinking but I’d swear she was putting on the show for me, knowing I’d be watching. And I sure as fuck was. That is, until I glanced at my watch and realized the time.

Shit. I had to make a quick business call to the West Coast to confirm the day and time for an upcoming conference call. Regretfully, this babe was going to have to wait until later. I knew the bouncer so stepping outside to make the call and getting back in wasn’t going to be an issue. I took one last look behind me as I made my way to the exit, committing this girl to memory.

When I returned, she was no longer on the dance floor. I looked around and after a few minutes of searching, I found her at the bar with some seriously drunk shithead saddled up next to her. It was clear from her body language and the scowl on her face that she wasn’t enjoying the attention. I approached to overhear her say to him, “Never. Going. To. Happen.”

The drunk bastard’s face morphed with rage and he moved closer to her. “You fucking—”

My caveman instinct kicked in. “I believe the lady said she wasn’t interested, buddy. Why don’t you move on your way?” He looked confused for a second and then wobbled around slowly to face me. The girl did the same and it was impossible not to notice her puckered nipples beneath the thin fabric of her shirt. I sent a small thanks up to God for shirts that couldn’t be worn with bras. Her eyes widened when she looked at me.

She opened her mouth to say something and stopped abruptly to look down at herself.

Holy fuck! The fucking asshole had puked all over her! She ran off in the direction of the bathrooms, while I manhandled the idiot over to the bouncer and filled him in on what had happened. Then I went back to wait for her outside the bathroom to make sure she was okay.

About twenty minutes later, she poked her head out the door, peeked in the hallway, and started to make her way back into the bar. I spoke from the shadows at the end of the hall. “You okay?” She swung around to face me and immediately crossed her hands over her chest and took a step toward me. “When you didn’t come right back out, I wanted to make sure you were okay,” I said by way of explaining what I was doing lurking in the dark. “I told the bouncer what happened. That guy’s already eating concrete.” I stepped closer to her and saw that her white shirt was completely soaked with water, transparent, and clinging to her. Fuck.

“You may want to back up. I’ve rinsed myself off head to toe, but I can’t guarantee that I don’t still smell like puke,” she said.

“I’ll take my chances.” And I would. I was drawn to her—completely. I needed to touch her. The chemistry between us was like a pulsing, living being. I took her wrists in my hands and unfolded them from her chest. Fuck me but her the shape of her tits was clear and her puckered nipples were visible through the wet fabric. What I wouldn’t give to feel the weight of her tits in my hands right now and run my tongue around her nipples.

“What are you doing?” she asked softly.

“Enjoying the view.” I raised a hand and lightly thumbed one of her nipples, flicking back and forth. My cock was at full mast now and straining the confines of my pants. I brushed my hand along her collarbone, then slid it underneath her golden locks to cup the back of her neck. Our eyes met and even in the darkness of the hallway I saw that she had the most incredible blue eyes. The need I was feeling was reflected back.

I couldn’t wait another second to know what she tasted like. I crushed my lips to hers and she tasted as sweet as I knew she would.

Pressing my hard cock into her, I cupped that ass that had been driving me crazy all fucking night with both of my hands and squeezed tight. She rubbed her body against mine as my tongue explored every inch of her mouth. Her hand came between us to grip my dick through my pants and she rubbed up and down my shaft. I just about lost my shit right there, and if someone hadn’t chosen that exact moment to exit the men’s room, I very well may have stripped her down and fucked her against the back wall of that hallway.

Whoever it was mumbled something and then went on their way but it was too late, the spell we’d both been under had been broken and she pulled away.

“Oh, um…sorry.” She appeared flustered now and not in the sexual sort-of way I wanted, but in the what-the-hell-am-I-doing-I-have-to-get-out-of-here way. “I’m sorry. I have to go.”

I grabbed her wrist before she could leave. “No, wait.”

She shook her head. “This isn’t me. I don’t do this kind of thing.”

I reached down to adjust my package because I was seriously uncomfortable now and her eyes followed my movements. “Don’t run off. You’re not seriously going to leave me like this, are you?” I motioned in the direction of my junk. It wasn’t my finest moment but in my sexual haze, I couldn’t think of anything intelligent to say.

“I didn’t mean to lead you on…I just…” Before I could think of something to convince her to stay, she’d already run down the hallway.

It wasn’t until my erection had subsided and blood flow returned to my brain that I realized I didn’t even know her name.

 “Ten dates. That’s my rule.”

“Come again?”

His choice of phrasing had my mind swimming in images of the two of us and I fought to keep my line of thinking straight. “I won’t sleep with a guy for at least ten dates.”

He flopped back against the stairs with a defeated look on his face and scrubbed his hands over top of his shaved head.

“I’m sorry,” I said and moved to get off him.

He grabbed my arm and pulled me back down, lifted me by the waist and twisted me around so I was sitting in between his legs. His arms came around me and squeezed me close.

“You don’t have anything to apologize for. I won’t lie and say I’m not disappointed though.”

“Thanks for understanding.” I was embarrassed that I’d blurted out my rule to him, but his reaction put me at ease.

“I understand but you can be sure we’ll be having all ten of those dates as soon as possible,” he said and laughed. “Clear your calendar.”

“Has anyone ever told you you’re a very wise man, Mason?”

“Save your praise until I figure out a way to shove ten dates into one day and you hear all the great ideas I have that involve you and I.”

“Mmm…I’m sure most of them involve us being horizontal,” I said wryly.

He nuzzled my neck and spoke low and slow into my ear. “And in the pool, against the wall, in the shower, on the kitchen counter… Stop me when you’ve heard enough.”

Wow, Mason was a dirty talker. I’d heard enough to fuel my fantasies for years. “Enough,” I said. I laughed and swung my elbow back into his gut.

We relaxed for a while, not speaking. Just enjoyed each other’s presence and the view of the moonlight reflecting off the water. It was comfortable. My nerves had evaporated entirely.

I sunk back into Mason, enjoying his warmth and felt my eyelids getting heavy. The next thing I knew Mason was nudging me gently to wake me.

“Ellie, come on. You should get home. It’s late and you’re falling asleep.”

“Okay,” I said in what I could hear was a sleep-laden voice.

“Unless you want to spend the night here. You’re welcome to but I have to be honest, if you do I’m not sure I’ll be able to keep my hands off you.”

It pleased me to know I had that effect on him. I wasn’t sure what that said about me but to be honest, right then, I didn’t care.

“Tempting but I should get home. I didn’t tell my mom I wouldn’t be home and even though I’m twenty-one she’d worry if I wasn’t there in the morning.”

I grabbed my shoes and walked barefoot across the deck, Mason leading me along with his hand on my lower back. He walked me to my car. When I got to the driver’s side door he pinned me to the car with his arms on either side of my shoulders.

“I had an amazing night, Ellie. The best I’ve had in years.”

Holy crap. This guy was making it super difficult for me to stick to my ten-date rule.

“I had a good time, too.”

“Let’s do it again.”

“Okay.” What else was there to say really? I wasn’t into games, which was why I was always upfront about the ten date thing.  I wasn’t going to play coy or pretend I didn’t want to see him again.

He cupped his hands on either side of my face and he kissed me. It was different than the frantic kissing we’d shared on the deck. This kiss was a slow burn; the fire between us building and building until it was a raging inferno and difficult to control.

This time he pushed me back. “You’d better get out of here before I force you to stay.” He rubbed one hand over top of his head.

I nodded, got into my car and started it. He knocked on the window. I rolled it down and he passed me his phone.

“Here put your number in.”

I did as he asked and when I scrolled up to save it I noticed that instead of adding me in his phone under Ellie Wagner he’d added me as WORTH THE WAIT.

Damn. This guy was trouble.
